Alright- now it gets serious. I rode my bike home for the second time today. This plan seems to be working, and I already noticed an improvement over day one. The current plan is to get dropped off on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then ride home from work following my planned route. There are only a couple of scary parts, and I choose to wait for traffic to clear, rather than try to keep my speed up. I shaved a few minutes off my time from the initial run, and didn’t feel nearly so exhausted when I got home. This is partly due to the fact that I did not carry a backpack this time, and carried water in a bottle cage. I have put in about 13 miles in the last four days, so I feel like I’ve made a big step in the right direction.
On the days I am not commuting, my plan right now is to alternate between trail and pavement to build my base fitness back up and lose about 30 pounds. Once I get back there, I think revisiting Bentonville is in the picture, as well as some other locations I’ve been wanting to try. I probably wont make a write up each time I commute, but I have put my strava feed on the Wolf Creek Pack page, so you can keep me accountable there. Ultimately I want to find a way to commute both to and from work, but need shower facilities. I have some options I am working on, so that may still happen.
